Out of a love for classic dungarees, Alice and Georgie launched their US-based business, Dotty Dungarees in 2013. Both founders have fond memories of growing up and exploring their worlds in overalls and wanted to capture that nostalgia and bring it into contemporary children’s fashion.

Alice and Georgie faced a number of steep learning curves, as neither had any experience in the retail industry prior to launching their brand. However, their passion and dedication to their products and their vision propelled them through the challenges of establishing their small business.

Dotty Dungarees is committed to sustainable fashion, and sources materials from ethically-minded suppliers. The brand employs a largely female workforce who helped them redesign the classic dungaree into a product that’s as unique as each child who wears them.

Challenge

Dotty Dungarees, a children’s fashion company, turned to Cymbio’s expertise for help with onboarding to Zalando marketplace. As a small business, Dotty Dungarees was faced with the challenge of wanting to scale its business to new retailers, but didn’t have the tools and resources it needed to successfully complete this onboarding on its own. 

Solution

As Dotty Dungarees was looking for a way to smoothly integrate its existing Shopify store with retailers like Zalando, Cymbio stepped in to help make this transition painless. Our team helped Dotty Dungarees connect with large retailers, setting up the entire process by integrating the brand’s existing Shopify platform.

The partnership between Cymbio and Dotty Dungarees allowed the fashion brand to scale and sell on bigger platforms despite being a small business with limited resources. Thanks to Cymbio’s automation tools, an integration process that would have taken Dotty Dungarees months to accomplish on its own was done in a few weeks.

Results

Not only did the brand succeed in going live on selling its products on Zalando, but after working with the Cymbio team and seeing how seamless the integration process could be, the children’s fashion brand decided to expand even further. 

Cymbio stepped up by taking over Dotty Dungaree’s existing drop shipping business and connected the brand with additional major retailers. With the help of Cymbio, Dotty Dungarees now sells its products through retailers such as Maisonette, Hudson’s Bay, Saks, Nordstrom, and Macy’s, with additional partnerships with BonTon and J.Crew in the works.

Dotty Dungarees’ results speak for themselves. As of its launch in April 2022, Dotty Dungarees has surpassed its goal with accomplishments such as:

  • A 94% increase in order volume since working with Cymbio
  • New partnerships with five major retailers and an additional two in process
  • Takeovers with three European retailers planned for 2023
