Sea Star Case Study
Sea Star Beachwear Sees 10% YoY Growth in Dropship Sales with Cymbio

About

Sea Star Beachwear was born from a need for functional yet fashionable water shoes. While on vacation, Libby Fitzgerald’s children pointed out her flimsy and unattractive water shoes, and upon searching for better, more fashionable ones, the results came up empty. This inspired Fitzgerald to create her own collection of timeless water shoes.

Sea Star Beachwear shoes are comfortable, versatile, breathable, and quick-drying, making them an ideal choice for travelers or even everyday use while running errands in the rain. Sea Star Beachwear has expanded their line to now offer coordinating water-friendly accessories and bags.

Challenge

Sea Star Beachwear searched for a solution that would allow it to grow its dropship sales with large retailers. As a small team, it would have been challenging for Sea Star to expand its dropship operations without expanding its resources, too. Sea Star was searching for a solution that would enable them to allocate inventory across different channels all while automating product syncing in order to simplify this expansion.

Solution

Finding it difficult to scale with their existing operations, Sea Star searched for a solution that would allow it to grow and sell to more retailers. In 2020, Sea Star began working with Cymbio to help automate its marketplace e-commerce operations, allowing the brand to achieve the growth it was looking for without needing to significantly increase its budget, resources, or time.

Cymbio was able to help Sea Star Beachwear expand its dropship business by integrating its existing e-commerce software, ApparelMagic, and WMS with popular retailer websites and automating the inventory updating process.

Results

In 2020, Cymbio helped Sea Star Beachwear launch on two retailers: Maisonette and Nordstrom. The brand now sells on an additional four dropship platforms: Hudson’s Bay, Neiman Marcus, Saks, and QVC.

Using Cymbio’s automation technologies to streamline dropship operations, here’s what Sea Star Beachwear was able to accomplish in 2022:

  • The brand had 2458 total dropship sales to date in 2022
  • The brand’s gross merchandise volume (GMV) in dropship retailers that were connected through Cymbio, was over $200,000
  • The brand sold 2898 products through dropship retailers, which constituted a 10.4% increase from 2021’s dropship sales

“Cymbio has the experience to take care of all our dropship needs, helping ease the burden on our team. As a small business, Cymbio allows us to scale our dropship orders without spending more for extra resources or hiring additional professionals. Everything’s simple, automated, and straightforward.”
